Why are Dems diverting funds from our Security & Intel? In light of the near miss on our Army base in N.J. why are Dems diverting some spy funds to study global warming. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,270656,00.html EP. PETER HOEKSTRA, R-MICH., RANKING MEMBER, INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE: Well, Neil, obviously we are a country that is under continued threat. We have an intelligence community that is focused on stealing secrets from other countries, their plans and intentions. And now we are going back to what we did in the 1990s. We are shifting intelligence resources to politically correct activities. In the 1990s, we focused it on the environment, we focused on the nice guys. Spies don't recruit bad people. What happened is we were blind to al Qaeda. Now when the threat continues to be real — continues to be real, here they go again. They are thinking about moving intelligence resources to study an issue that can be studied by a number of other agencies in the federal government. This is not a job of the intelligence community. There are other places to divert money for global warming. Dems just hate security. They want to defund the intelligence community and repeal the Patriot Act. Democrats want us to be sitting ducks.
Anybody know about good internet security programs for Mac OS 10.4 on Intel? I need some answers, since I have this crappy internet security software (Intego NetBarrier X4) on my Mac. I thought that it would be like an internet security suite, like Norton, but I was wrong. Plus, this was pretty much the only internet security tool I could find that was native on an Intel system for Mac. Got any ideas?
How does revealing Intel cost, to the Senate, threaten national security? President Bush is threatening to veto the new Senate Intelligence Bill and one of the reasons, that his administration gives, is that the bill requires yearly cost disclosure of US intelligence and that is a threat to national security. Does anyone know if there are any restraints, accountability of cost now? How would disclosing the cost threaten national security? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070413/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_intelligence_veto;_ylt=ApJ0jcBQw8gg2cGMROSZW5.s0NUE Bush threatens a veto over intel bill - Yahoo! What security levels should I set my computer at? I really don't know much about this so I was just curious. Ok first I have a HP Pavilion a6303w-b Desktop & Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E2140..It is my personal pc and I use it mostly for surfing the web and gaming. And I also have Norton 360 and have windows firewall turned off because I was told to to prevent conflict.. Ok so my question is what should all of these be set at.. I worry a lot about viruses and stuff so I just want to be secure 1. Internet 2. Local Intranet 3. Trusted Sites 4. Restricted Sites Should they be at low, medium or high? Right now I have my Internet at Custom level, my Local Intranet at Medium-Low, my Trusted Sites at Medium and Restricted Sites at High.. Hopefully I'm cool if not pleaze let me know. Thanks a lot to whoever helps.. Cruzy
Wireless network issue with security enabled? The wireless network has excellent signal strength and works just fine from another laptop. I went through tons of configuration changes, but still cannot seem to get it to connect with either WEP or WPA. I can get it to connect with the wireless encryption disabled, but as soon as it is enabled, it fails to connect, even after verifying the correct entry of the key numerous times and trying different keys. I have updated the Wireless card drivers (Intel Pro 2200BG), but have yet to make sure that Windows needs to be updated for it to work. The user has also mentioned using the wireless network setup wizard prior to me trying to get him connected (not sure if that would do anything to cause adverse effects). Please help me!!! I'm at a loss I have tried both the Intel ProSet and Windows Zero Config with the same results. I'm trying to use WPA-PSK TKIP if possible. I have also tried the WEP-64 and 128 and with different keys. I'm leaning more towards it being a Windows issue or WNIC issue rather than a WAP based issue, based on the fact that another laptop, although it being a MAC, connected to the network just fine.
DIR-615 with Intel ABG3945 PRO? I have recently got a new DIR-615 wireless n with obviously compatibility with standard G and B adapters. However being able to connect using my Wireless N USB adapter, i need to use my built in wireless from my laptop. I enter in all security keys that i set up myself, but i am not able to connect to the internet using the built in G, it is set up to use with N and G adapters so THAT NOT THE PROBLEM. I did the obvious turn off modem and router and restart it, YES I DID THAT. It works with all my other d-link adapters just not with this. Any help anyone? 10 pnts
Is there something more sinister and strange about Scientology? Considering most people know Scientology is a cult, they targeted celebrities successfully and it is rather strange. Read about Gold Base http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gold_Base that borders Department of Defence property. Is it possible that Scientology is using very precise, as was evidenced by its founder study of such, brainwashing techniques and espionage techniques such as CIA and other intel agency brainwashing techniques etc.? They even haev their own internal security and intel branches, and they were indicted by the Federal Government for Operation Snow White which was their own intelligence and espionage organization within the Church of Scientology. And what else are they hiding? Could they possibly have been infilitrated by outside agencies which now use it as grounds for some ops? Just out of curiosity below, for what purposes? Why do they even bother being so politically active, they must have a proactive purpose other than just their religion then.
Air Force jobs law/intel/traffic control? I am going to MEPS in a few days and wanted some insight from prior or current military. I am interested in law and intel, but want something that will tansfer to civilian life as well. I am looking at Op intel, paralegal, or imagry analysis. I also like Security Forces, but heard it sucks. I am really interested in law enforcement so maybe I should do Sec. forces, but i dont wanna be standing in front of a plane all day, I want to be active fighting crime, ha ha. Im not an idiot, so I want something that is exicitng and transfers to civilian life. My ASVAB is high enough for anything, and I have my A.S. I also know Air traffic Controlmen make big bucks outside, but I heard the job sucks, and is super stressful both inside and out of the military. is that true? I would like to get my degree while inside also so a job that has a normal shift would be nice also. So any tips or personal exp would help.

USA homeland security continues to hire criminals in a coverup of 9-11-01 after harrassing the witness 07? I was a significant 9-11-01 intel witness. I was hawked and stalked by people paid by forgein operatives and a sheik . ripped off , gas with chemicals stalked all over, and had all my finances ripped off. I identified these jerks, these 24 black females to teh CIA , FBI and other police agencies. I think Homeland Security hired these illegal aliens with stolen identies and loyalty to forgein operatives ALTHOUGH THEY WERE NOTIFIED of their participation in a 9-11-01 cover up. the US govt refuses to allow a proper offical to contact me. and my IL US Senators office has ignored my written complaints as well. These black women intercepted my communications and OBAMAS office thinks im a black female. DO I LOOK BLACK? Peachsurprize@yahoo.com

DO people realize that as our homeland security is being cut to fight the Iraq War? With all the money being funneled into Iraq less money is being funneled into the field that best deals with Terrorism, homeland security. The if we fight them there mentality doesn't work when dealing with terrorists because they do not fight as an army but small groups spread throughout the world. Remember it was not an army that attacked us on 9/11 it was 20 or so individuals who came here. The fact that we still have very poor rediness plans in cities to deal with this type of problem the fact cities are going bankrupt because they have to pay overtime every time the department goes on orange alert and the lack of federal assistance for department sharing information and more counter intel is in all making us as unsafe as we were before 9/11 not more safe.

Security forces in the AF? What does a security forces job in the AF entail? My original decision is Intel/advanced electronics, but I'm worried about qualifying for that on the ASVAB. I'm interested in security forces but I'd like to know more info about it.
How concerned should I be over security on a Mac? I've just started using Windows XP on my new Intel based Mac, and upon installing some security software have already found a few nasties. I have consequently been feeling rather insecure about using a browser in Windows, and thought that to be on the safe side perhaps I should go back to doing most of my web browsing on Mac OS. Then it occurred to me, was I wrong to buy into the belief that Macs almost never get viruses or other nasties? I've never bothered with Mac security software before, but perhaps this has been a big mistake! What do you think? I do understand that it's the operating system that's more or less vulnerable to nasties, not the hardware. I also am not worried about any nasties crossing between operating systems, since I know that this couldn't happen. Still I wonder, if Macs never get any nasties, why is there still Mac security software available to buy? Also, why would nobody bother trying to target Mac users with their spyware etc seeing as Mac users might think themselves invulnerable and thus be less likely to install any defenses? Or is it simply that Mac OS is too well designed to allow any nasties through? I apologize because I seem to have inadvertently started a heated debate! I appreciate both your answers, and Betsy, I wasn't doubting your expertise at all. I was just hoping to get a little more clarification about why Macs don't have problems with malicious software, because this is something I've wondered about for quite some time.
Why does a an Army medic have to have a secret clearance? I am shipping on 20 Feb for bct. My mos is 68w. Yesterday I was contacted by a special investigator for a security clearance interview. Does anyone know why a medic would need a secret clearance. I am worried about this because I couldn't get the job I wanted in the first place because of a clearance(MP). I have a misd. charge and that disqualified me for that job. If I don't get the clearance what will happen to me? Has this happened to anyone else? I have never heard of someone having this interview before they shipped except for intel jobs and the like. Please advise.
How do I get my two laptops to talk to each other? I have two laptops - both acer. The first has a built in Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG and the second (an older machine) has a Belkin 802.11g wireless card plugged in. I suspect I don't understand networks well enough but I have tried everything but I cannot get the two machines to network. In the control panel I can see a Wireless network connection that loops through a BTHomeHub-9543. This is my internet connection. I have created a new profile called HomeNetwork with an SSID called Study. The operating mode is device to device. At the moment I have not set up an security settings. My First laptop is called HomeLaptop1. I have done nothing with the second laptop which is simply called HomeLaptop2. Can anyone please tell me how I can get these two machines together. I have been driven mad with the Windows XP or my cards telling me that something else is interfering with them. Any help would be much appreciate. Thanks to both of you. I have been through the advice. Now how do I know if my computers are talking to each other and how can I transfer files? In my Local Netwrok I have two BTHomeHub (0646EHE2C)'s. I realise this may make me look stupid but I am a beginner at this network larky. Any help greatly appreciated. Bernard
Network did not assign a network address to the computer? I have got this problem here that kept me crippled for sometime. This is what i face: There is a wireless router, Linksys Wireless model WAG54G. And my laptop is using Intel Pro Wireless 2200BG. There is only WEP security on the router, no mac address filter. When i connect to with the right WEP key, i get this error: This problem occurred because the network did not assign a network address to the computer. I'm running on dynamic IP with DHCP enabled. Whenever i connect, it wil be successful but i will be assigned an odd IP starting with 169. When i look at the details, there are no default gateway or DNS information. All i see is the odd IP and the subnet mask of 255.255.0.0. I simply cannot get connected to the internet at all although i am somehow or rather connected to the router. If i manually key in the IP address and stuff, i do get connected to the router but i simply cant get access to the internet at all. I can connect to internet using lan cable though.
Intel (R) Extreme Graphics suddenly popping up? This thing has been popping up at the bottom right hand corner after I installed the McAfee security complete suite but I'm not sure what it is. Can someone tell me how to stop it and what it is because when you right click there isn't any exit option. It's a little blue icon...I do have an Intel Celeron processor but my computer is a few years old and a windows update icon is now present at the bottom right hand corner as well. Thanks.
New Dem in charge of Intel committee clueless? WASHINGTON (CNN) — Rep. Silvestre Reyes of Texas, who incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has tapped to head the Intelligence Committee when the Democrats take over in January, failed a quiz of basic questions about al Qaeda and Hezbollah, two of the key terrorist organizations the intelligence community has focused on since the September 11, 2001 attacks. When asked by CQ National Security Editor Jeff Stein whether al Qaeda is one or the other of the two major branches of Islam — Sunni or Shiite — Reyes answered “they are probably both,” then ventured “Predominantly — probably Shiite.” That is wrong. Al Qaeda was founded by Osama bin Laden as a Sunni organization and views Shiites as heretics. Reyes could also not answer questions put by Stein about Hezbollah, a Shiite group on the U.S. list of terrorist organizations that is based in Southern Lebanon. http://www.cnn.com/POLITICS/blogs/polit … chief.html

What is happening to your computer when you get a message saying that your Virtual Memory Minimum is too low? Sometimes the computer will get painfully slow and I will have various programmes just not responding so I have to shut them down. McAfee offers a 36 month plan for $99. Norton doesn't seem to have an expiration date and it is $80. I would appreciate any intelligent reasons for why to choose either. Also if you think McAfee is better but not $20 and in need of a renewal better please tell me. All input is greatly appreciated. If you have any other advice on other aspects of the computer I would be very grateful. Please keep in mind that I am building this computer to use as a college student.

What do you think about Democrat Intel from 1998-2002? "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens. Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others Oct. 9, 1998 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. BeachBum, you're the biggest idiot on answers, MHO

Norton 360 or internet security? Which one will slow my computer down more? I have a laptop with Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition, Intel Core 2 CPU, 1.66GHz and 2.5gig ram. I am VERY picky about speed. I have heard once that norton 360 is faster than Internet security. Also I am not going to change my mind about norton. I don't care about the price. I only want to know which will slow my computer down more. I currently use Norton Internet Security 2008. (Don't bother saying norton is crap! I am happy with it. Also please don't reccomend me any of the free anti Virus. I have tested loads of them on my other computer and I am happiest with norton. (I like Avast, it's ok, but I have the licences so why not use them?)
Norton Internet Security 2007, still a resource hog or not? I am buying a laptop, its an average laptop Intel Core Duo 1.73ghz 2mb Level 2 Cache 1GB Ram (plus I will increase this using windows vista readyboost) I had Norton 2005 a while back and uninstalled and replace with other free programs as I found Norton to be a resource hog, especailly memory. I heard recently that 2007 was a lot more efficient when it came to using sytem resources!? Is this the case? The laptop comes with it free....wanted to know if I should just leave it on.
If I go into army intel and a few years later go bad on any debt will I be kicked out of that mos? I am thinking of going in the intel field but I was told by someone to be very careful before choosing this mos. I was told that If I went this route and later had any financial trouble (late payments, charge offs, reposesions, tax liens, foreclosure, etc) my security clearnce could be revoked and I could end up in any mos. Is this true? Can anyone give me first hand advice that has worked in this field and may know more. I dont plan on anything happening in the future like this but all things are possible and I would nt want to end up in a mos that I dislike.
Revocation info for security certificate for this site not available. Want to proceed? How can I stop this? I get this message frequently, but not always, when clicking on a link to a website or a URL. The connection process slows way down, slower than dialup, and then the message screen shows. I have choice of YES NO or VIEW CERTIFICATE. I click YES and connection goes through. I have searched Microsoft but can't find anything. I have a Dell Dimension E310 Series, Intel Premium 4 Processor 521 (2.80 GHz) and 1 MB cache. It has Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. This started about 2-3 months ago - worked fine before. If someone could help me fix this it would be so great. Let me say that I have tried adjusting TOOLS-OPTIONS ON Security Tab in both Outlook and IE but it made no difference. Thanks for listening.

Anyone have a list of Army jobs that do not require security clearance? My husband is joining the Army and he is not yet a US citizen, so he can not get a security clearance. He got an 88 on the AVSAB and has a Masters degree. He is looking to go into Intelligence after he finishes the citizenship process, and will also go to OCS. The only list we have found is on military.about.com, and this seems to be very outdated and we have found that some have been changed and it is missing some. (ex: paralegal now requires a clearance and is on the list) If anyone knows of a good, recent list, please let me know! The recruiter and career counselor both did not have a list and do not know where to get one??!? Thanks for any help! Any suggestions would be great.. his interests are intel/ legal/ investigation/ etc He will have his citizenship in 6 months.. we were already 3 years into the process and he is from a non-threatening country. Because it is a time of conflict, it is sped up automaticly. He just has to take a position for the first year or so until he can go to OCS.
